Child Seat Inspection Helps 22 Lake Area Families

By Scott Waldrop

Over the weekend, the Louisiana Passenger Safety Task Force, in cooperation with Louisiana State Police Troop D and Lake Charles Toyota, provided a free child passenger safety seat check event in Lake Charles. The free child safety seat inspections were conducted by nationally certified child passenger safety seat technicians who assisted with proper installation and answered many questions while following COVID safety protocols.

Lake Charles Toyota has hosted the Child Safety Seat event many times over the years and was please to serve in the role again. The inspections that were lined up for 2020 were all canceled in the wake of the pandemic and this was the first such event to take place in Calcasieu Parish.

Jeremy Nunnally, Guest Services Manager said, “Twenty-two families came out to make sure they know how to properly secure their child seats. That could have a significant benefit for those children”.
Child safety seats and booster seats, when used properly, save lives. They offer the best protection for children in the event of a crash. During the past 30 years, nearly 9,000 lives have been saved by the use of child restraints according to the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). It is important caregivers ensure children are properly restrained in an appropriate child safety seat, booster seat, or seat belt – every trip, every time.
