When looking for a powerful and modern sedan, the Toyota Camry has been a favorite for many years, and now the 2020 model is making a statement with sporty styling, additional trims, and much more you'll be sure to love. If you are in the market for a new sedan, then there is no shortage of options from several automakers, but how do you narrow down your search? That's what the team here at Lake Charles Ford is here for. We want to ensure you take home a vehicle that checks off all the boxes and we think the new Toyota Camry will do just this.
But how does the Camry stack up against similar models in its segment? The Toyota Camry is commonly compared to the Honda Accord, another five-seater sedan known for its performance and features. But if you are looking for the most bang for your buck you'll want to go with the Toyota Camry and here is why.
When you purchase a new car, you want to make sure that it can get you where you need to go through every season. The Toyota Camry earned a four out of five stars from J.D. Power while the Honda Accord only got three, meaning the Toyota Camry came out above average.
The Toyota Camry will give you more advanced technology that either is not offered from the Honda Accord or you will have to pay more for. The Toyota Camry comes standard with a seven-inch touchscreen with standard Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Amazon Alexa.
The Honda Accord also comes with a seven-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth but if you want features such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity you'll have to go up in trim level.
If you are looking for standard connection while on the go than the Camry is the better fit for you.
Looking for a more spirited drive? Again, the Toyota Camry takes the win with its 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that pumps out an impressive 203 horsepower. The Honda Accord provides you with a less potent, turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine that only gets up to 192 horsepower. Additionally, the Camry offers another engine. This is a 3.5-liter V6 engine that can get up to 301 horsepower! This is more powerful than the Accord models second 252 horsepower 2.0-liter option.
While the Camry is more powerful, its engine is also more fuel-efficient than the Honda Accord. The Camry's base engine offers 29 MPG in the city and 41 MPG on the highway, which is 34 MPG combined.
While the Honda Accord gets a good fuel economy for a sedan, it doesn't quite save you as much as the Camry. The Accord gets up to 30 MPG in the city and 38 MPG on the highway, which is 33 MPG combined.
If you want efficiency, you'll love the Toyota Camry Hybrid option that can get up to 51 MPG in the city and 53 MPG on the highway!
Both the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord do a good job of equipping you with top safety features, but the 2020 Camry was given a perfect five-star overall crash test rating for the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, as well as an award for being a Top Safety Pick+.
While the 2020 Accord did get awarded five stars for its safety features, the Camry provides you with more advanced standard features like adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, and lane keep assist.
If you want standard and affordable peace of mind the Toyota Camry is the right choice for you.
