Lake Charles Toyota Named Title Sponsor of 45th Annual Sulphur City Championship

Longstanding Southwest Louisiana golf tradition returns to Frasch Golf Course Oct. 9 through 11

SULPHUR, La., Aug. 31, 2026 — Lake Charles Toyota has been named title sponsor of the 45th Annual Sulphur City Championship, set for Oct. 9 through 11 at Frasch Golf Course in Sulphur.

The 2026 tournament marks Lake Charles Toyota's first year as title sponsor of one of the region's longest running golf traditions. The championship dates to 1981, when Bear Suarez captured the inaugural title, and has since brought generations of golfers to Frasch Golf Course to compete for the Sulphur City Championship.

"Forty-five years is a remarkable tradition, and that kind of longevity says a lot about what this tournament means to Sulphur and the golf community across Southwest Louisiana," said Corey Tarver of Lake Charles Toyota. "We are proud to put the Lake Charles Toyota name behind an event that has created so many memories and continues to bring people together through the game of golf."

The tournament begins Friday, Oct. 9, with Presidents Flight tee times starting at 12:30 p.m. Competition continues Saturday and Sunday, with tee times beginning at 8 a.m. Lunch and drinks will be provided both days, with awards presented immediately following the final round of each flight.

New for 2026, the championship will use Unknown Golf as its official tournament platform, providing players with live scoring, real time leaderboards and event communication throughout the weekend.

Set beneath mature live oaks and shaped by the familiar landscape of Southwest Louisiana, Frasch Golf Course has long been part of the tournament's identity. Its tree lined fairways, water features and longstanding place in the Sulphur community have made the course a familiar setting for generations of local golfers.

"Sulphur and West Calcasieu have their own traditions and places that people really take pride in, and Frasch is one of them," Tarver said. "We are grateful for the chance to be part of something that belongs to this community and to support an event people have grown up playing in, watching and talking about."

Entry fees are $125 for nonmembers and $115 for Frasch members and include three rounds of golf, range balls, a ditty bag, food and drinks. Practice rounds for players outside the Presidents Flight are available Oct. 1 through 9 by calling the Frasch Golf Shop to reserve a tee time. Tournament registrations must be paid at the Golf Shop by 5 p.m. Oct. 1 to participate.

Tournament information and registration are available through the 45th Annual Sulphur City Championship event page.
