Experienced Automotive Service Technician

Our company has an outstanding opportunity for a results-focused, highly driven and experienced Service Mechanical Technician position.  This Technician will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing client and dealership vehicles with integrity and ethics, and also maintaining a positive relationship with clients who return with unsatisfactory work in accordance with dealership policies and standards.

Job Responsibilities
  • Examines vehicle, diagnoses and, if needed discusses with the Shop Foreman, or Service Advisor as to the nature and extent of damage or malfunction
  • Communicates additional service requests to the Service Advisor for communication to client
  • Plans work procedure in cooperation with the Shop Foreman
  • Provides labor time estimates to the Service Advisor
  • Monitors repair time and updates Service Advisor on status often for client vehicles left for service, and for waiting clients
  • Maintains strict adherence to dealership policy on client vehicle care and operation
  • Completes story and/or documentation for client repairs
  • Understands and utilizes dealership computer system
  • Assists Technician Trainees
  • Wears approved safety glasses when in designated safety areas
  • Keeps work area clean and tidy
  • Attends company and factory training
  • Keeps current with factory technical bulletins
  • Understands and follows Federal, State and local regulations such as disposal of hazardous wastes
  • Attends weekly department meetings

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations (Including Driver's License)

Experience/Qualifications

Job Summary

Sell new and used inventory while achieving dealership standards and appropriate levels of gross profit, volume and customer satisfaction.

Duties (including but not limited to)

- Sell and deliver a minimum number of vehicles per month

- Process paperwork in accordance with dealership policies

- Perform test drives with all prospects

- Utilize dealership follow-up systems and maintain a follow-up system that encourages repeat and referral business in alignment with customer satisfaction

- Attend product and sales training courses

- Keep up to date on products and services

- Know and understand the federal, state and local laws that govern retail auto sales

- Prepare vehicles for delivery before customer arrival

- Attend regular sales meetings

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform multipoint inspections
  • Communicate additional service/repair needs to service consultants
  • Inspect fluid levels
  • Check tire pressure, rotate, balance, and replace tires
  • Drain oil from crankcase and refill with required amount of oil
  • Replace oil, air, and A/C filters
  • Test and replace batteries
  • Inspect all vehicles for additional repairs
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, safety standards, and codes of conduct
  • Follow dealership safety procedures to avoid exposure to fumes, dirt, and harsh chemicals

Qualifications

  • Must meet dealership's requirements for employment
  • Familiarity with all aspects of automotive repair/maintenance
  • Must have a valid driver license and be able to operate manual transmissions

  • Occasional exposure to inclement weather

  • Prolonged periods of standing, stooping and bending

Service Advisor

Our company has an outstanding opportunity for a results-focused, highly driven and experienced Service Advisor.  The Service Advisor acts as liaison between the client and the service technician and works with the call center in scheduling service for clients. The service advisor also works with the technician team to ensure work is distributed equitably among service technicians.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Greets Service Department clients in a prompt and courteous manner 100% of the time, and never differentiates between customer pay and warranty service clients
  • Listens to each client and clearly articulates information on the repair order
  • Satisfies client's immediate needs, use low key, high integrity methods to present additional needed services
  • Observes factory suggestions on maintenance items and will advise clients of the value of maintaining their vehicles in accordance with manufacturer's specifications
  • Presents a menu of recommended maintenance and additional services to every client
  • Ascertains the needs of clients, collecting information necessary for service or repair diagnosis
  • Provides clients with an accurate estimate of repair or maintenance costs, and/or a minimal diagnostic fee with explanation of associated costs
  • Writes Repair Orders, detailing problems and pertinent information, and secure clients' signature for authorization of repair or service
  • Maintains strict adherence to dealership policy on client vehicle care and operation
  • Informs clients of repair diagnosis, sell repairs and services needed or required for proper operation
  • Forwards repair or service estimate changes to client following technician's diagnosis
  • Sells and manages extended warranties and complete required documentation
  • Inspects quality of vehicles following repairs of service to verify that all authorized work is performed and performed properly in the effort to reduce rechecks
  • Follows up progress of each repair order during the day and contact clients by phone or e-mail twice daily to notify them of any changes to the status or estimated time of completion of their Advises clients of potential consequences if repairs are not made
  •  Handles minor client concerns or misunderstandings repair, and document changes on repair order
  • Replies to voice and e-mail messages in a timely manner where either internal or external clients are concerned
  • Notifies clients when repairs are completed, and vehicle is ready for delivery
  • Reviews and explains repairs and associated costs with client upon completion of service
  • Documents verbal, in person, and written approvals on repair orders and add-on sales
  • Keeps Service Manager informed of all problems and potential problems involving clients, repairs, and equipment
  • Notifies technicians of changes to repair status
  • Encourages clients to complete the manufacturer surveys to provide feedback
  • Coordinates work overflow
  • Maintains a readable status sheet (route sheet) of carryover vehicles and status of clients in for repairs
  • Maintains a record of status of special-order parts
  • Maintains required Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) rating in accordance with dealership standards
  • Maintains required hours per repair order (HPR) in accordance with dealership standards
  • Attends weekly department meetings
