The mid-size SUV will be returning to southwest Louisiana all-new and completely redesigned got a fourth generation in five trims, from a new L grade to LE, XLE at the midrange, penultimate Limited, and fully loaded Platinum. For one, it'll come built on the new TNGA-K platform, meaning the ride quality will be more refined, comfortable, and safer. Driving it: the choice of a 295-horsepower, 3.5-liter V6 or a new-generation hybrid powertrain. The former promises great combined fuel efficiency, by manufacturer estimates up to 22 mpg. The latter will make possible an estimated 34 mpg combined -- a 17-percent improvement over the current model year. Of course, you'll have a Predictive Efficient Drive (PED) analyzing your driving habits as well as road and traffic conditions to help you make the most of battery power.

Secondly, a newly available Dynamic Torque Vectoring All-Wheel Drive system, featuring a driveline disconnect and Multi-Terrain Select mode system, will keep handling confident and dependable down bad roads and through worse weather, as will optional 20-inch wheels. Plus, with an available towing package, you'll be able to transport 5,000 pounds effectively. That's ATV-, boat-, and second car-hauling territory.

Third, Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 Standard (TSS 2.0) driver-assistance technologies will come standard. They'll feature new Lane Tracing Assist and Road Sign Assist systems to keep you in-lane and apprised of local rules.

Finally, The SUV will be expertly equipped, available in seven- or eight-passenger configurations, with available second-row captain's chairs, a second row you can slide an extra 1.2 inches further forward for more rear legroom, and more cargo space than previous generations -- a whopping 73.3 cubic feet max. A 12.3-inch touch-screen display, the largest in the segment to date, will be available, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Amazon Alexa interoperability, and Waze crowd-sourced nav support will come standard. The availability of Qi wireless charging, Wi-Fi Connect Powered by AT&T, SiriusXM, and a 1,200-watt JBL sound system will round out your entertainment and connectivity options.
