God Bless America

Tomorrow is the day we celebrate our independence, the 4th of July.  I love my country, and I am so proud to be an American citizen.  It is a great honor and privilege and I do not take it for granted.  We have a great heritage, and we are the envy of people all over the world.  I am so grateful to the many who have served our country in various capacities, especially those who have served in our great military.  My Dad was a World War II veteran, and my brother Bruce, and my Uncle Ken served faithful in Vietnam.  My father-in-law is a Marine veteran of Korean War.  I cannot thank them and their fellow servants enough for making it possible for us to have this great free country we have.

I enjoy visiting with our military customers when I have the privilege.  Every opportunity I have, I stress my sincere thanks to them and tell them I know that I am privileged to do what I enjoy because of people like them who serve as they serve.  Many of them have comrades who have given the ultimate sacrifice.  But every one of them that I visit with consistently deny any acknowledgement for what they have done.  I also recognize their families give dearly as well, and we sometimes overlook their sacrifice.

We have many differences in our great country, but the special right to disagree and speak our minds to one another is the most treasured gift that has been given to us.  We must respect those who have gone before us who have made this country the most desired place in the world.  We will continue to work to build our country, and make it continue to be the greatest place to live on the planet.

I don’t know what you plan to do tomorrow to celebrate, but I plan to raise a flag in celebration.  I just installed a flag pole in my front yard and I am going to christen it tomorrow by getting up early and going to raise the American Flag for the first time.  I am also going to cook hamburgers and hot dogs and have my grandchildren over to swim.  I love that I can share my patriotism on this special day with family and allow our coworkers to have the day off to do the same.
